 Abseil
2004 Trakhener-cross mare (branded AWS), 15.2h
$12,000
Full sister to our fantastic young horse Absalom, who has been doing so well in competition with Krister this year with only eighteen months under saddle, Abseil apparently shrank in the wash; her older full brothers are nearly 17 hands and 16.2, but she seems to have topped out around 15.2/15.3. This is unlucky for us, since we're both tall and long-legged, but a real opportunity for someone who by stature or temperament would prefer a more compact edition but still wants competitive warmblood movement, sometimes a hard combination to find. She has a large barrel and takes up a good amount of leg, and with her substantial bone can carry weight. Abseil is perhaps even more level-headed than Sol—just about nothing fazes her. She has good length of stride but is very solid and comfortable feeling, very sittable. Like Sol, Abseil was started quite late but very correctly, and though she is fairly green she is an enjoyable, solid ride. She is great for longe lessons, steady, rhythmic, and responsive enough to seat to work on transitions without reins (Miranda has been taking full advantage of this chance to work on some of the bad habits that inevitably come from riding mostly young horses).
Abseil has very good manners, stands for hot shoeing, clips, loads, and cross-ties. She is a very easy keeper, in keeping with her calm disposition. She was inspected as a foal and received a score of 70.5, giving her Red Preferred status and the privilege of being branded.
